Hawzah News Agency- The seventeenth of Rabi al-Awwal, marking the blessed birth of the Prophet Muhammad (PBUH) and Imam Ja'far al-Sadiq (AS), the founding figure of the Ja'fari school of thought, represents far more than a date on the Islamic calendar or a historical commemoration. It serves as a reminder of the greatest turning point in human history: the Prophetic Mission — the Be'that.
This was a mission that transformed not only religion, but the very destiny, identity and soul of humanity, inaugurating an entirely new chapter of spiritual and social existence.
The Meaning of Be'that: Awakening the Dead
The Arabic term "Be'that" literally means to raise, to rouse, to awaken. The divine commission of the Prophet Muhammad (PBUH) was not merely the appointment of a messenger from God — it was the resurrection of a society that had fallen into moral and spiritual death.
Before the advent of Islam, humanity languished in a state of deep slumber — gripped by ignorance, darkness and the blind prejudices of the age of Jahiliya. The Prophet of Mercy (PBUH) came to lead a people lost in darkness toward the light, raising them to a greater mission: the mission of servitude to God, brotherhood and genuine humanity.
The society awakened by the light of Islam was no longer a collection of scattered tribes locked in endless and futile warfare. It became a "resurrected people" — a community pulled from the swamp of ignorance and commissioned to build a civilization founded upon justice and enlightenment.
Unity: The Greatest Achievement of the Prophetic Awakening
The most profound achievement of this divine awakening was unity. Through the bonds of brotherhood and the declaration of divine oneness, the Prophet (PBUH) transformed bitter enemies — the warring tribes of Aws and Khazraj — into brothers. He demonstrated that geographic borders, race, color and language can never stand as barriers between hearts that worship the One God.
The Holy Qur'an binds this awakening mission directly to unity, commanding: "And hold firmly to the rope of Allah all together and do not become divided" (3:103).
The Modern Imperative: Reviving the Spirit of Be'that
Today, the Islamic world once again finds itself in desperate need of that same spirit of awakening. Global hegemonic powers have always feared Muslim unity, for they understand that an awakened and united Ummah is unbreakable.
The people resurrected by the prophetic mission of Muhammad (PBUH) today carry the responsibility of transcending artificial boundaries and focusing on the vital common ground that binds all Muslims: The Holy Qur'an, the Ka'aba, the shared Qibla, and the collective struggle against oppression and global arrogance.
A Renewed Covenant
On the anniversary of the luminous birth of the Seal of the Prophets (PBUH), Muslims worldwide must renew their covenant to continue the path of the awakening Prophet — a path whose destination is the construction of a unified, powerful and just society.
Through the shade of unity, drawing inspiration from the mercy-filled tradition of the Prophet (PBUH), and heeding the guidance of the Supreme Leader of the Islamic Revolution, Ayatollah Seyyed Mojtaba Hosseini Khamenei, the faithful must prepare the ground for the emergence of the Savior of humanity, Imam Mahdi (may God hasten his reappearance) — the one whose final mission is the establishment of true justice and genuine unity across the globe.
